In a variation on our regular Christmas bonus, this year we offer a visual rather than a textual resource. As we compiled our edited volume Margaret Harkness: Writing Social Engagement 1880-1921 we thought about ways to represent the extent to which Harkness was embedded in contemporary international literary and political networks that included many figures who have been better remembered. Lisa C. Robertson created this alluvial diagram to reflect Harkness’s connections, how she knew them, and where. While this representation did not make it into the volume, we offer it to you now as a means of bringing some colour into the dark days of winter. It can also be found on our About Margaret Harkness page.
